“The power of photography is in capturing a single moment in time and holding onto it forever. Photography makes memory tangible, allowing the viewer to experience all over again what might otherwise fade into the darkness.”
I was born and raised in the small and beautiful town of Sebastopol, California. My love for photography began at a young age through school trips with Sonoma Country Day School to locations such as Yosemite National Park and Point Reyes National Seashore where the natural beauty inspired me to capture it on film. While attending Analy High School I took a class in traditional Black and White photography which allowed me to hone my skills, improve my technique, and introduced me to fundamental theories behind great photography. While attending Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, I obtained a Bachelor of Science with Special Attainments in Commerce in Business Administration, minoring in photography. During that time, I started Jessica Duffy Photography.
Since graduating, I have integrated photography into my professional life, using my skills for equestrian marketing firm Athletux and then as Communications Coordinator for the United States Eventing Association. My photographic work has been published on websites, in print publications, and has been used in equestrian rider and brand promotion and advertising. I have also dabbled in portraiture, engagement photography, and wedding photography.
I have spent nearly my whole life with horses, and I understand the special connection that exists between horse and rider. As my photography skills have developed over time, my understanding of connection has expanded to that between more than just horses and people. My love of photography is rooted in the ability to capture that connection between subjects – there is such magic that exists in those moments. I would be honored to capture those moments for you.
